Goodwood Hill’s serenity belies its location just steps from busy Scotts Road. Hidden amidst the lush greenery are some of the first and finest black & white houses built initially by the colonial government for the judiciary.

In the early 1900s the Public Works Department, responsible for building the island’s infrastructure, built the first black & white house in the estate. These gorgeous homes were built for top civil servants in the British administration, primarily the judicial branch, to entice them to come live and work in Singapore.

Note: We shall be viewing everything from the outside.

Black and White House Tour at Goodwood was a hit !

We have just got back from a 2 hour trip with Shanti looking at a selection of black and white houses in Goodwood – huge amounts of fun. Not only was it stunning to see all the houses in their grounds but also the history behind the houses was fascinating. Shanti was attentive, informative and kept a great pace throughout the tour. I would highly recommend.

Fabulous tour of colonial-era architecture in Singapore. Hidden heavenly corners of beauty. A visit to various areas and styles of black and white, including to the interior of these beautiful houses. Our guide, Catalina, was so knowledgeable and interesting. With stories and personal experience. It was a pleasure to have her as a guide. Highly recommended.
