Join us on a wonderful journey to discover the fascinating story and rich heritage of Singapore’s Jewish community. Our tour brings you through some iconic Jewish buildings including at least one of our two synagogues and sites with Jewish connections.
During this tour, you will gain insights into this close-knit community, and learn about the heartwarming and heartbreaking tales of the local Jewry. Learn about several colourful and prominent Jewish figures from Singapore’s early days and their contributions to Singapore’s development.
Tour highlights include the Mahalah, Singapore’s old Jewish quarter with its iconic buildings; the oldest synagogue in South East Asia, the Maghain Aboth in Waterloo Street, and the adjacent Jacob Ballas memorial hall; and the beautifully restored and sumptuous Chesed-El synagogue.

Betty is the specialist for this one. Jane’s set us up with a tour for two. Betty is engaging and personable, and has done her homework. In addition to the Jewish sites, she took us to a few other byways that we would not have found on our own. She also added narrative about some of the outstanding personalities of Jewish Singapore.
We have done many private tours in various countries and I can honestly say that Jane’s SG Tours gave us some of our best experiences ever! We were lucky enough to have Betty lead us on a beautifully constructed tour examining the Jewish side of Singapore. Her content was well researched and the style of delivery was totally engaging and kept me, my wife and my sons (two young adults) interested throughout the whole time. I have no hesitation in recommending this tour to any other travellers.
Tour was perfect- just the right amount of walking, learning, bus riding, and even eating. Jane’s guide got us into places that otherwise were closed to the public where we met with knowledgeable people who explained the fascinating history of the Jews in Singapore. I had made a stupid mistake with the reservation and Rebecca spent the entire day sorting it out, really above and beyond the call of duty. I highly recommend this tour company and this tour as well.
Nothing beats getting up close and personal with the sights and flavours of Joo Chiat, one of Singapore’s most eclectic and interesting neighbourhoods. Come along to discover the many treasures that capture the colourful and magical charm of the area.
