Catalina Tong

As an expat in Singapore I am interested in learning more about the history of the places where I now live and this morning I learned so much about the Emerald Hill area close to Orchard Road. It was so interesting to learn about those shophouses and visit a couple of them! Catalina with Jane Tour offered us a very informative and pleasant view of Singapore’s heritage. I had a clear impression of an organized, knowledgeable and serious company and I will definitely book more tours with them! Highliy recommend. Thank you!

The brilliant Catalina our guide was a fount of knowledge and the fascinating history and architectural style of this former colonial type of Singapore building -from flats to barracks, embassies to mansions, was vividly brought to life in the most charming manner. She even went out of her way to find my old home (which was made interesting for other group members too) and for me it was magical to see that the mango and rambutan trees I remembered were still there and new children still play on the same lawns. Full marks Janes Tours- no wonder this programme has won awards. Highly recommended way of exploring non high rise Singapore.

Catalina is an organized, informed, and passionate guide; we see Niven Road with new eyes, and for that, we’re grateful to her. She also facilitated a meeting with the rabbi at Chesed-El Synagogue, who was a delight. The last stop was an unexpected and welcome surprise. Would we book again with Jane’s Tours? Certainly!

I spent a lovely morning with my two girlfriends gaining a new appreciation of the iconic Black and White houses of Singapore.
