Festivals

With such a diverse population Singapore has many cultural festivals that are celebrated year round. If you happen to be visiting during the appropriate time of the year, we offer the option for you to experience these festivals with one of our guides to explain to you their cultural significance, and show you all the sites, events and customs related to the celebrations. Harmony and good relations between the different cultural groups are important in Singapore, and enjoying each other’s festivals, sampling the festive foods, and revelling in the beautiful decorations is a popular way to appreciate and learn more about other cultures. Please contact us for special tours during these festive periods.

Chinese New Year

The lunar new year takes place in January or February each year and celebrates the new year and approaching spring. It is a time for family reunions, feasts, and special foods and decorations to welcome good fortune. Visiting Chinatown during this time of the year is an exciting experience when its streets are decorated extensively and the atmosphere is even more bustling and colourful than normal.

Ramadan is the fasting month for Muslims, and there is no better place to witness this than the traditional Muslim area of Kampong Gelam around Sultan Mosque. At the Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar Muslims from all over the city will gather to break their fast as the sun sets, and many non-Muslims will join them to sample the delicious offerings and join in the cultural events.
