Posted on Connector38857816760Verified A walk back in time… Jane showed my husband and I some homes, military housing and civil service buildings the Alexandra Park neighborhood, and as we walked, her descriptions of the architecture and its history painted a fascinating portrait of Singapore in the first half of the 20th century. She clearly loves her city/country, and her enthusiasm is infectious. Since our particular walk was to learn about the Black & Whites, the subject matter focused mostly on the European community in Singapore, but the company’s other walks cover many different experiences, and we will gladly recommend Jane’s Singapore Tours to anyone with an interest in any part of the country’s multi-ethnic history. A five-star morning…thank you, Jane!Cyndy Mesrobian, USAPosted on Cara GVerified Incredibly Memorable Singapore Experience Our guide was absolutely a wonderful passionate person. She had a deep seeded knowledge of Singapore history, culture, and people. You could tell that our guide was a seasoned travel professional because of her ability to read her travel audience, whether they were jetlagged or had specific interests, and tailor the tour for the day or discussion to touch on those details.I had been to Singapore for business years ago but after our 3 day guided tour, I now feel I have Visited Singapore. I know that I have only scratched the surface on everything that there is to do in Singapore. Even if i stayed for a week, I still do not think I could have seen everything that there is to do.Here is a smattering of what we visited during our tour: Botanic Gardens, drove around white and black house area and Emerald Hill to see Shop Houses, walked around Civic Buildings and the Central Business District, visited China Town, the Urban Development Authority (URA), Little India, and Kampong Glam as well as a drove to Santosa area. It definitely was a full 3 days.I thank Jane SG Tours for our fabulous 3 day tour and now I am left wanting more.Posted on JeanineNewYorkVerified "Off the Beaten Path" in Singapore We had a Wonderful 3 day tour of Singapore with Jane’s SG Tours. Hugely interesting exploration of the history and culture of this beautiful city state. Our guide’s in-depth knowledge of “all things” Singapore was amazing. The specific events about the founding of this young nation were hugely interesting. Plus she connected that history to present times and answered the question of how Singapore grew into an incredibility efficient, thriving and environmentally committed country. A model for cities throughout the world. The tour also explored the personalities, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of Singaporean people from the past and how their work impacts the country currently. The “off the beaten path” sites were fascinating. During stops to Little India, Chinatown and Kampong Glam we visited active temples, mosques and even viewed a Hindi ceremony in process. Bring lots of water, sunscreen and your walking shoes and get ready to enjoy this fascinating and beautiful exploration of Singapore with Jane’s SP Tours. Note: There are plenty of bathrooms available so stay hydrated!!Posted on rex hVerified Jane' Tours...a must do! We had the pleasure of having Jane as our tour guide, and she truly made our introduction to Singapore unforgettable. Jane's deep knowledge of the city combined with her enthusiasm and engaging storying, made the the perfect start to our 6-day adventure. From the beginning, we delved into the rich history of Singapore-learning about the diverse cultures that shape this vibrant city-state, the establishment of a British trading post and the Japanese occupation. during World War ll.Jane brought these stories to life in a way that was both informative and captivating. Then we were off walking and exploring many of the highlighted and unique communities of this beautiful city, eventually ending opposite the Marina bay Sands.Later that day, we explored the Black and White Houses and surrounding neighborhoods, where we learning about their colonial history. Before we wrapped up our tour with Jane, she made sure to share a list of other must-see spots to check out before we left Singapore. it was clear that she genuinely wanted us to make the most of our visit. Her recommendations were thoughtful, and insightful and showed how much she cares about sharing her city with visitors. We learned so much from Jane and quickly realized that 6 days is not enough-we're already planning to come back again for 2 weeks. We also had the chance to do two more tours with different guides, each of whom brought their own expertise and personality. to the experience.Alvin led us on the Little India and the Kampong district tour, sharing his deep knowledge of the area and it's intriguing sights, smells and sounds. He even took me to explore the spice shops, where I purchased gifts to take home.On our final day, we ventured out to Pulau Ubin, where we met our engaging guide,Richard. He led us on a nature walk through the island's lush landscapes where we explored an abundance of tropical biodiversity. All in all, every tour was memorable and enriching. We highly recommend Jane's Tours to anyone visiting Singapore-it's truly the best way to understand and fall in love this this incredible place.Posted on Maggie CVerified Fascinating Insights - a must do Singapore experience! If you want to learn some of the human stories of Singapore - and who doesn't like a good story? - then I can thoroughly recommend Jane's Singapore Tours. We were lucky enough to do a number of different itineraries during our short stay in Singapore. We emerged with such an incredible insight into the history, culture, religion and communities of this wonderful Island. Like many visitors, we were unaware how much there is to see beyond the obvious tourist attractions, shopping and resorts. For this you definitely need an expert guide to explore the many 'hidden corners' and Jane's depth of knowledge, passion and expert storytelling make the perfect combination. From a walking tour in the CBD to visiting sights connected to key moments in WW2 we discovered so much. The pace was perfect, with plenty of opportunity to stop for refreshments and sample the varied and delicious cuisines. We can thoroughly recommend!Posted on ARLittleVerified Highly recommended tours - hugely knowledgeable and friendly guides, tailored to suit, and very well organised We cannot recommend Jane's tours highly enough. Mother and daughter combo - I lived in Singapore for two years, but this was my daughter's first visit. Simon took us around Fort Canning and the historical civic centre, and Carey showed us the Alexandra Park Black and White houses. Both had huge insight and knowledge of their areas - Simon actually grew up in the area, and was brilliant at explaining not just the history, but involving us in his childhood memories too. He has such a depth of not just knowledge, but a profound passion for social and cultural history of the country. Absolutely fascinating to learn so much about the development of Singapore as a nation. Carey was able to share her experience of living in a Black and White House, in such a personable way, as well as having an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history of the architecture, the types of people who have have lived in them before, and the many historical details about the area - really brought the place to life for us. It was very easy to book the tours online - and I found that they were tailored to our exact needs. We received reminders, photos of meeting points, what to bring, etc. It just couldn't have been easier.I very much look forward to more tours on future visits, and have already recommended to some others who are visiting Singapore shortly!Posted on E LVerified Make Sure you Let Jane's SG Tours Guide You Through Singapore to get the Most of this Must-See Destination With only 5 days to spend in Singapore, it was essential that we get the most out of our time. Working with Jane's SG Tours, we managed to get the full 360 experience, covering not just the full island, but also the many layers of history, diverse culture, religious pluralism, churches, mosques, temples of many kinds, synagogues (both!), civic structure (don't miss the URA), horticulture, architecture (including the Super Trees in concert) agriculture, flora (thousands of orchid varieties included), fauna (monitor lizards large and small, crocodiles, otters, monkeys, birds galore), cuisine (Singaporean, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, fine dining and hawker's market), incredible variety of cocktails and coffee, and so much more! Jane's deep knowledge of Singapore is only matched by her love of this fascinating, unique (and I truly mean that) and delightful city/state. Yet she also has the well-being of her visitors in mind, and we never felt overwhelmed and had built in time to rest up each day. We had such a wonderful time, and our main takeaway was, we want to go back!Posted on Suan HVerified Joo Chiat Tour with Stefan Stefan took us on the Joo Chiat tour.
