Join us on a wonderful journey to discover the fascinating story and rich heritage of Singapore's Jewish community. Our tour will bring you through some iconic jewish buildings and sites with Jewish connections.
The highlights of the tour will include:
- the Mahalah old Jewish quarter with its iconic buildings
- the oldest synagogue in South East Asia, the Maghain Abboth in Waterloo Street and the Jacob Ballas memorial hall
- the beautifully restored and sumptuous Chesed-El synagogue in Oxley Rise and newly built community center where you will partake in a kosher meal to end the tour.
During this tour, you will gain insights into this close-knit community, and learn about the heartwarming and heartbreaking tales of the local Jewry. You will also get to know several colourful and prominent Jewish characters from the past and learn their contribution to Singapore’s development.
The tour will be partly by bus and partly on foot and will end with a genuine 3 course kosher lunch (prepared by the rabbi's wife!) in the new Community Centre at the Chesed-El synagogue ; the price of this is included in your ticket.
