The best kind of gift to yourself is the gift of theatre and culture. SOUVENIR is a musical based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite who dreamed of becoming an opera singer despite having a terrible singing voice. The drama-comedy stars the beloved Singapore thespian and funny man Hossan Leong as Cosme McMoon and West End actress Leigh McDonald as Florence Foster Jenkins.
A film version of the story starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant made the rounds of the world’s movie theatres in 2016. SOUVENIR evokes a great emotional range, from riotous laughs to poignant moments that touch upon the importance of following one’s passions and dreams.
Jane’s special theatre event includes pre show drinks (2 glasses of wine per person) and a post-show talk — “Anybody Can Sing… And It’s Good for Your Health” — by the play’s voice coach TJ Taylor, head of musical theatre at Sing’Theatre academy and also a voice teacher at Lasalle College of the Arts, and by Grace Low, a multi-instrumentalist and a board-certified music therapist at Singapore General Hospital.
