Nature Walking Tour: Kranji Marshes

Our very experienced and knowledgeable guide — she is an NParks guide as well as a Singapore Tourism Board-qualified guide — will take us through the delightful Kranji marshes, pointing out areas of particular interest, especially wildlife.

We will also look at the historical significance of the area. When the mouth of the Kranji River was damned in the 1970s to create Kranji Reservoir, it created a freshwater marshland. With 3 different kinds of habitats here — marsh, woodland and grass — the Kranji marshes are home to various types of plants and animals, especially birds.

This part of Singapore is a great place to spot many of our winged friends, from the purple heron to the red-wattled lapwing. Now there's a mouth full! If you're lucky you'll also spot eagles, namely the changeable hawk eagle and the grey-headed fish eagle, both nationally threatened species.

Lots of butterflies and dragonflies and other little creatures will also stop by! We will walk along the lane next to Neo Tiew Woods to the Raptor Tower and back, a total distance about 2.5km.

Please note you have a choice of meeting us at Dempsey at 7am to drive up to the Marshes , or to meet us there at 7:30am; tickets are priced for these 2 options accordingly. The relevant directions will be sent to you a few days before the walk. We will limit the total number of participants to 12 — the current total is larger simply to offer adequate options.
