During the Islamic month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk during which time not even water can be consumed. Good deeds, holy prayers and giving alms is practiced throughout the month.
And when the sun goes down, the entire area of Kampong Glam comes alive with aromas of delicious food and customers queuing up to take home delicacies to eat with their loved ones.
Come on this once-a-year tour where we partake in the preparation for the celebration of Hari Raya Puasa, this year on Friday 15th June. We will visit shops selling all things from lush fabrics to pretty crystals, colourful glass lamps, woven baskets and decadent perfumes and frankincense. It is indeed a cheerful and busy atmosphere.
During this tour, we shall also learn about the other important Muslim festival which is also a national holiday in Singapore — Hari Raya Haji. When the call to break the fast happens at about 7 pm, we shall join our Muslim friends with a meal of rice and curries, which is included in the price of your tour.
