Beyond its history and heritage, Kampong Glam also teems with artistic treasures and compelling architecture — from artists and cultural performers, to street murals and art centres. Explore the neighbourhood's old and restored shophouses, re-purposed buildings, architecture heritage award winners, Green Mark sustainability buildings, and even "fengshui" (geomancy) structures.
Our Art, History & Architecture Walk in Kampong Glam showcases many fascinating aspects of one of Singapore's oldest areas.
We'll dig deep into Kampong Glam's culture and heritage by meeting a talented young Malay artist who works in a hidden corner of the neighbourhood creating beautiful Chinese calligraphy pieces. The tour also includes a visit to the studio of a ceramic artist experimenting with extraordinary concepts, techniques and unusual ingredients (such as milk, sugar and flour), to create unique ceramic works.
We'll explore how three distinctive buildings towering above the skyline of Kampong Glam are both at odds and in harmony with each other, underling once again how Singapore embraces both the old and the new.
