Come with us to explore our island's oldest neighbourhood, and learn about the early pioneers who helped shape Singapore's future. Discover the rich tapestry of the Waterloo Street arts precinct, a small but vibrant area that is emblematic of Singapore's cultural and religious diversity.
Here you'll find a synagogue, a Catholic church, a Buddhist and a Hindu temple, as well as a calligraphy centre, dance studio, visual arts gallery, street art, and much more.
Step back to a time when the La Salle Brothers founded Singapore's earliest Roman Catholic church, next to which Indian convicts built their own prison. Learn about the ambitious Irish architect who left his everlasting imprint on this fledgling colony and see some his early 19th-century works that have survived.
And finally, you’ll wander through the fascinating and historic CHIJMES complex— a peaceful oasis, once occupied by French nuns dedicated to girls' education and the abandoned babies left to their care. And, most recently made world-famous in the wedding scene in the movie Crazy Rich Asians.
Please note confirmation of this tour includes the exact meeting place and will be sent by email to all those registered about 24 hours in advance; this will be preceded by a LHOKO message to all registered.

“I particularly love the Tuesday walks exploring the different distinct areas of Singapore...including Tiong Bahru, Kampong Glam, Geylang and The Botanic Gardens to name a few. Jane and her team are knowledgeable without being over -facing; interesting in the telling of local stories and fun to be with. “
“Jane’s tours are always fascinating. She recruits such excellent tour guides. We saw several temples and renovated shop houses. The history, diversity and cultural heritage of Singapore is so extensive and celebrated in these unique tours. Loved it thanks...”
