This is a really fun tour, as you can tell from the photo above taken at the Shaw Studios on a tour in 2016!
Background: the post war years, especially the 1950s, saw Singapore's "golden age of cinema" and was dominated by 2 movie companies, Shaw & Cathay.
Although both these names survive in their movie theatres, only the Shaw studios still exist - albeit as a testament to the past - while the Cathay studios have long since disappeared.
In recent years the movie industry here has enjoyed something of a revival with many Singaporean directors such as Jack Neo, Eric Khoo, Royston Tan, Anthony Chen and Ken Kwek releasing films to not only national, but also international, acclaim.
Itinerary: our tour will visit the Shaw Studios, we'll then hop on a bus and visit some sites from movies made here (while watching clips from those movies),then onto the Cathay Gallery and we'll end at the Projector Movie Theatre in Beach Road for a chat about the current film scene in Singapore.
