Many people, locals and tourists alike, often lament that there is nothing to do in Singapore. However, this little red dot holds many un(der)-explored nooks. One such place for me was Emerald Hill. I went on a guided walk with Jane, Shanti, and Pat, who were highly knowledgeable about the history of the area. Through their connections, we visited three lovely houses, and were even treated to snacks and drinks. The pace of the tour was just right, and I left with the satisfaction of knowing my country more intimately. This is definitely for anyone, even if you are a born and bred Singaporean, who has had enough of shiny malls, hipster cafes, and celebrity restaurants.
