Tiles, Temples & More...!
Telok Ayer Street (Water Bay in Malay) is extraordinary in the diversity of religious institutions lining it. One of Singapore's oldest Chinese temples, a mosque, a church, and an Indian Muslim shrine all live in neighbourly peace with each other, so much so that its often referred to as "the street of harmony".
Come and find out the history of this wonderful street, its location on the old banks of the Singapore river, and how this contributed to its significance in the early days of the new port with its "allegedly" gold paved streets.
The walk will include a visit to Victor's wonderful Peranakan tile shop where drinks and snacks will be served.
